The North in the 1800s was booming with a civilization which encouraged diverse agriculture and increase in commerce. The increase of immigration and trade provided strong political, education, economy, etc.  

The North also made progress in ending slavery and ending conflicts with the south. When the country fought in the civil war, the North had 19 slave-free states and during the war due to maintaining integrity, it was called the union. Around the same time, it contributed 75% of the country's economy and possessed 81% of factories.

During the era of the 1800s, North American cities saw rapid growth in the field of industrial technology. That was the time of great migration and the industrial revolution. The major cities of North America were New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Huston. These cities had ample job opportunities in the field of technology and people from down south migrated to these cities seeking jobs and as these cities were rapidly growing, there were new factories being built. People who migrated to these big industrial cities knew that in these cities they will get a better standard of life and they will get paid more as compared to their native cities and that was the main reason behind the great migration.
