One similarity between the federal, state, and local governments is that both states, federal and local governments share certain powers, for example, the federal and state governments can borrow money, levy taxes, establish courts, and build roads. This separation of power between these arms system is for checks and balances which is stipulated in the US Constitution Article I, Article II and Article III. Some similarities further exist in the collaborative roles of the federal, state, and local governments to ensure the security of people and property to enable good business environments, and to provide basic amenities to citizens.

State cases are broad and involve citizens in cases of robbery, broken contracts, traffic violations, and family disputes while the feudal judicial branch is limited to certain types of cases listed the U.S Constitution specifically provided by, i.e., copyright, patent, and bankruptcy.

A similarity between the federal, state and local government is that they have the same structure of government with three branches, each branch makes laws, carries out the laws and interprets the laws. There is a system of checks and balance at each level with a separation of powers mentioned in each branch. These three governments share some powers together that allow them to charge taxes, build courts and borrow money.

The difference between the federal, state and local governments is the budget. They have different responsibilities that exist and they need to work accordingly and function simultaneously. They meet different kinds of obligations where they need to work individually to stay in a budget. To balance their budget, they are never spending more than they are bringing in. The difference between the federal executive branch and the state executive branch is that they have their own different court systems. 13 U.S courts of appeals have been established in the federal executive branch whereas, in the state executive branch, they only have courts established that handle specific legal matters. In the federal legislative branch, senators serve for 6 years while in the state legislative branch, senators serve for 4 years. There should be at least 25 houses or 30 senates whereas, in the state branch, there must be at least 21. 435 representatives and 100 are followed in the federal state as compared to the state branch where they have only 134 representatives and 67 senators. The federal legislative branch is led by a president and the state legislative branch is led by a governor.

Just like the federal judicial branch, state judicial branch also has an Attorney general and the Supreme court as well as lesser courts. Judicial branch applies laws to settle disputes in civil cases and innocence in criminal cases where both the branches handle cases relating to the violation and its applications. Both the branches have to be careful as the court does not allow to case any lawsuits against the United States and those that involve certain specific federal laws.

Jurisdiction is the only difference as it refers to the kinds of cases a court is authorized for. The federal judicial takes action by handling cases that involve violation of the U.S whereas the state judicial branch handles cases that involve violation of the state’s constitution or laws by the state’s legislature. As compared to the federal judicial branch, the state judicial branch by far handles a larger number of cases and have more contacts with public.

government is defined as the legitimate use of force to control human behavior within territorial boundaries, here comes in hobbes and locke.

hobbes takes the part about controlling human behavior. while locke takes the part of legitimate use of force, since force is not legitimate unless there is consent of the people. 

there are basically 3 goals of the government: 1) maintain order by protecting life and property. 2) providing public goods, those which are typically not provided by the public sector, such as roads and education. 3) promote equality be it political, opportunist or outcome equality.
