What were the intolerable acts and how did the colonists respond to them

The intolerable law were five laws against american colonist by the british in 1774 as punishment for the boston tea party. So the colonist voiced their opposition on a local level.

the tariff was created to protect industry in the northern part of the united states. industries in the north were being driven out of business by imported goods that were priced at a low rate. the goal was to protect these industries   by taxing the goods.

a social contract.

"a social contract is an agreement between citizens and their leader where the citizens give up certain freedoms in exchange for protection. the constitution of the united states is an example of a social contract."
