This process was able because of few factors:

- The European colonial nations were economically exhausted after the war, also their countries were in ruins. That meant that they had to focus on rebuilding and development, which in turn meant that they were not able to support the colonialism anymore;

- The international pressure for stopping the colonialism, as well as the independence movements, and movements for human rights, all resulted in mass protests and pressure for granting independence.
