Why did many italian people find fascism acceptable?

Although Italian fascism was a violent and totalitarian regime, many Italians supported it. The promise of a stable government that supposedly promoted democracy and an economic system that could alleviate the crisis were attractive ideas for the Italian people. Of course, these ideas were reinforced by constant control of the media that favored the Fascist Party and penetrated the Italian minds as the only solution to their problems
