Protestants such as martin luther began by trying to reform the catholic church. eventually, the church called the council of trent. at these meetings, the church agreed to some reforms. it stopped selling indulgences. it focused more on priest education, so nepotism and incompetence were less of a problem.

imagine you are a protestant in mid-1500s europe. would the council of trent and counter-reformation convince you to become catholic again? why or why not?
