Deism sees the world in mechanical terms. Once Newton published his works on gravity, his revolutionary views of how gravity interacts between planets and their satellites was immediately taken up by the deists. It was proof positive that there was order in the Universe -- great order, but no evidence or need for interaction with Mankind.
