Women could not vote for many reason. First off, women didn’t have the strength as much as men did so they couldn’t hold themselves in the rough of politics. People also believed that women voting would distract them from their “domestic duties and their children”. It was argued that voting would distract women from their roles as mothers and wives. Many though of women as being too vulnerable, if women were allowed to vote in the 1800s it would mean they are not longer under men’s protection and they are equal to them. No man wanted to be equal to a women they always thought of themselves as being stronger and higher than women.
