I believe that the Treaty of Versailles was a somewhat fair, somewhat unfair treaty, in that it demanded appropriate legal and moral reparations to be made by the Germans, yet left the economy in ruins, causing people to starve, and a chaotic government.

The Treaty of Versailles was not a lasting treaty because, despite its demands and aims, it did not prevent World War II; “the effects of the Treaty of Versailles weakened Germany’s government, and that, along with all of the effects, allowed for the rise of fascism and Hitler in Germany after World War I”.
