Representative democracy

Explanation: it's the most logical out of the common types of governmental styles in the world that would fit in with the description. There is another type of democracy, direct democracy, which was practiced by Athens and other small nationstates since it required all people considered citizens to participate in government, which is not practical for larger populations.
