Why did the vietnamese fight the french in indochina?

There were two main reasons why the Vietnamese engaged in war with the French in Indochina. That led to long and bloody war in Vietnam, with the North and Viet Cong teaming up and gradually managing to overcome the South and the French, eventually freeing themselves and declaring independence. The country was led by the communist party, and communism was established all over it. The French retreated ashamed from the defeat, and signed the granting of independence of Vietnam.
