The French and Indian War took place in two different scenarios: Europe, between France and England and their allies, and in America, particularly along the British-French border, towards the fork of the Ohio River. The war happened between 1754 and 1763, and while in America it was called the French and Indian War, in Europe it was known as the Seven Years War. It ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The following would be the answers to the questions:

1. A. France and Britain disputed borders in the Ohio River Valley. At the time, there were around 60.000 French colonizers around the area, and 2 million settlers of British descent. They competed for the trading routes and the lands offered near the Ohio River, especially between the French and British border.

2. D. They suffered negative consequences because they lost both their land and their allies. Although at the end of the war the British King issued a proclamation that reserved all lands west of the Appalachians for the First Nations, this was not kept, and British settlers moved to Indian lands without stop. Also, with the removal of their French protectors, the Indians were left to fend for themselves.

3. C. Increased British debt. This was also the case for France. The two nations were hugely indebted after the war.

4. D. Tribes allied with both sides during the war. On the British side the Iroquois, the Cherokee and the Catawba supported colonists against the French, but the majority of the tribes, like the Ottawa, supported the French.

5. D. Spain and Britain. Both of these gained from France. Spain gained Louisiana from the French after loosing Florida to the British, and Cuba was restored in the Treaty of Paris. Also Britain gained Canada and took away most of the French colonies.
