The Glorious Revolution denotes the events that occurred from 1688 to 1689, also referred to as ‘The Revolution of 1688’ and ‘The Bloodless Revolution’. It resulted in King James II of England being overthrown and replaced by one of his daughters and her husband. The cause of the revolution was religious and political conflicts, such as James’ explicit Roman Catholicism, his deferment of the rights of Dissenters, and the start of a Catholic successor to non-Catholics. William of Orange, a Protestant who was married to James’ daughter, was invited by opposition leaders to invade and conquer England with an army, which led to the decline in support for James. He then later fled to France.  And this is how William and Mary, James’ daughter, became the rulers of England in April 1689.

The intended outcome of the Glorious Revolution was to prevent England from having an absolute monarchy. And it was successful as it then gained a constitutional monarchy in which the majority power was held by Parliament. The significance of the Glorious Revolution lies in the fact that it instituted Parliament as the ruling power of England as well as the United Kingdom. It represents a change from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy. And it also led to the Jacobite rising of 1689, the Ireland Williamite War as well as the drafting of the English Bill of Rights in 1689. And it was this Bill of Rights that affected the American colonists. One of the rights in the Bill was the ability to have democratic elections for Parliament along with free speech. The American colonies did not have voting representation their current Parliament and often did not want it, but they did want their own colonial assemblies, which was granted to them by the Glorious Revolution. Furthermore, it was the cause for the American Revolution and heavily affected the American Constitution and greatly influenced the American Bill of Rights.

richard allen was a minister for a african methodist episcopal church. he was also a educator and a writer one of america most active and influential black leaders. in 1794, he founded a african methodist episcopal church in philadelphia, pennsylvania. the church that he founded was the first independent african american denomination in the united states. he was a influential leader that makes many people feel comfortable under his preachings. they trusted him and supported him even though it could get them in trouble because slavery was happening. he risked his life to bring slaves and others closer to god and writing books. as a boy he and his family were slaves but some how he managed to teach himself how to read, write and preach. he has written four books about his life, slavery and hymns/preaching.
