The main idea behind Magna Carta and The Rule of Law is that it was employed to suggest that, EVERYONE  is subject to the law set out by government officials and in this case, political historians, in order to govern a society/ nation.

Magna Carta Libertatum, better know as Magna Carta, is a charter of rights emphasised upon by King John of England in early June 1215. It was intitially set out and drafted by the Archbishop of Canterbury to amend and bring peace amidst the unpopular king and the group of rebels known as the BARONS. It sealed the protection of the rights of religious organisations, of barons from unfair imprisonment, authority of access to swift justice and the restrictions of feudal payment.

The Rule of Law states that every individual is subjected to the law which includes the people who are lawmakers, law enforcement officials and judges. In this sense, its stands above contrast to a monarchy or oligarchy where rulers are held above the law. This statement can be traced back to the 16th century in Britain whereby Samuel Ruther employed it against the right of kings.
