How are centuries counted? • our calendar (the gregorian calendar) starts at a. d 1 (the approximate year of christ’s birth).
• example- 1st century = a. d 1 to a. d 100
• rule #1: centuries start with the first year and stop at the next 100-year mark.
• rule #2: take the numbers at the beginning and add one to find the number of the century.
