What was the attempt made by the the british government to prevent war

Treaty of Ghent was the latest pact that was signed among United States, United Kingdom and Ireland. It was a harmony and peace treaty to protect and safeguard the borders of their territories from foreign invasion.

It was also agreed to end slave trade. Ghent was the leading anchorage in the metropolis of Belgium and this was the place where the delegates from all the three countries met together and signed the peace pact.  

Though this peace treaty was signed by America and United Kingdom, and ratified by Prince Regent of Britain, it did not happen cease the war that took place in 1815
