(02.03 hc) the passage below was written by thomas paine in his 1776 pamphlet, common sense. the powers of governing…in the hands of the king…himself such an…enemy to liberty…is he…a proper person to say to these colonies, "you shall make no laws but what i ." read the passage. what idea is the author trying to prove to the colonists? colonists may not agree with him, but the king has the right to rule. colonists should request that the king allow them representation. the king is violating the natural rights of the colonists. the king knows best how to govern the colonies.
