Nomination by petition is done by gathering signatures from

a. all candidates in the statewide election

b. a certain number of qualified voters in a district

c. a certain number of candidates in a district election

d. all of the qualified voters in a district

The petition nomination is done by collecting signatures from a B. certain qualified voters in the district.

An independent candidate or a non-majority party wishing to stand for election can do so by gaining signature form qualified voters. This is called nomination by petition. The requirement is that the candidate needs to get a specified number of signature from the area the candidate will represents.

The minimum number of signature required is 10,000 raw signature though it is advisable to get twice as much to avoid any technical problems that may give rise to nomination prohibition. There are other requirements as well for the candidates.
