Why was jesus put on the cross and when was he put on it

jesus was not but on the cross. as a matter of fact in the bible it states that he was but on a simple board. with a sign on the top like how you would but a sign on top of a board. and he wasn't put there his father (god) put him in that position. he sacrificed his life so that we would have a long lasting(eternity) life. if you need more info go to jw.org
