The natural calamities was called the “little ice age”, that brought a lag of almost the entire crop, causing farmers to lose their production.

There was a decrease in the standard of living of the Chinese, sparking riots and the emergence of rebel leaders like Li Zicheng who began to challenge the authority of the Ming Emperors.
