How did the pamphlet, common sense contribute to the american revolution? the pamphlet urged the british government to change its view and allow the colonies to take part in making laws. people in the 13 colonies read and talked about what was written; as a result, many people urged independence. it listed the changes the colonies wanted in their government and the grievances against the british king and parliament. it urged richard henry lee to give a speech about independence to the delegates of the second continental congress.
