Why did the mujahedeen revive support even thought they were against some american ideals

The mujahedeen revive support even thought they were against some American ideals because:Mujahedeen promised to protect the oil interest of United States of America. His main purpose or aim was to establish a pro alliance of U.S.  He tried to overthrow the communities.  U.S viewed the Afghanistan conflict as cold war struggle. It provided the assistance to mujahedeen and his men by providing their intelligence services. This was called as operation cyclone. U.S supported him as their eyes was already on Afghanistan. It provided them all the weapons needed. The main interest of U.S was to get the oil and became even more powerful nation. On the other hand, mujahedeen wanted to spread jihad.
