Catalonia, no doubt.

Explanation: Catalonia (no doubt a country of its own, with its own identity, history, language, culture since Middle Ages, its culture is not derived from Castilia, Madrid in any way). Catalonia tried several times to get independent politically and always suffered very much. General Franco used all measures to unify "Spain" (Spain is a puzzle, mixture of different countries) similatly to Tito in Yugoslavia. Tito used communist ideology, Franco used nationalism and probably also old imperial myth. But in spite of this Catalonia never lost its own identity and, fortunatelly, it is still aware of it. Now there is a democracy in Spain so people of Catalonia can freely express their willin this respect it is a golden age.
