The samurai beliefs made the Japanese Soldiers embodied the code of warriors which  influence their actions during the war.

For example, several main beliefs of the Samurai include frugality, righteousness, courage,honor and loyalty,

The Soldiers were taught that they were fighting for the 'Good Side' (Righteousness) . In order to achieve their goals, the soldiers believe that they have to make sacrifice even though they have to face a lot of hardships (frugality).

Often times, they have to Give their own life in order to achieve victory (Courage) . This mindset become the basis of Japanese Kamikaze , IN which a Japanese pilot will crash his own plane to the enemies' to achieve mutual destruction.

Not only that, In the brink of defeat, most Japanese soldiers choose to take their own life rather than being used as an interrogation victim that might compromise their own people. (Honor  & Loyalty)
