Senator Byrd's conclusion is strongly supported by the
rising number of interest groups. With more groups
involved in lobbying and more money being spent to fund
those efforts, Byrd's call for open, ethical practices will
need to be enforced all the more. The increased presence
of organizations that actively lobby fuels Byrd's concern
that fairness and balance in government will be
compromised and that individual voices could be
drowned out by "lavishly funded" interest groups.

Which of these ideas is included in your response? Check all apply.

1. Whether Byrd's conclusion is supported by the
evidence
2. Whether it is necessary to monitor the activities of
lobbyists
3. Whether it is necessary for lobbying to be openly
and publicly conducted
