Why does the prisoner insist that Wiesel and his father lie about their ages?

He is probably deranged because of the conditions in the concentration camp.
He wants to win the favor of the Nazi guards.
He is trying to save their lives.
He considers them a threat and is trying to get rid of them.

so the story tells of someone named kaushik choudhuri, but he does not narrate the story, a girl named hema does. hema tells the story in a second person point of view because you (the reader) are supposed to be the boy named kaushik.
