What happened for the Louisiana purchase to occur and after the purchase is complete ( pls help i can’t find anything on it ) ( also it has to be in a paragraph or as punch info that you can write)

In 1800, the Louisiana Territory comprised vast land areas from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains in the west, and from the Gulf of Mexico to the border with Canada. For security concerns and because of the wishes of further expansion into the West, American leaders worried about the perspective of having Napoleonic France as a neighbor, given the retrocession of the territory to France by Spain.  Access to the New Orleans port was also very important for settlers in the Ohio River and Tennessee River valleys.

President Thomas Jefferson sent a delegation to Paris to talk and try to negotiate the purchase of the territory with the French. The French government was interested in selling the territory , probably thinking it was a burden because of the coming war with Britain and the need of money. A treaty was concluded swiftly and in 1803, the US incorporated the territory of 828,000 square miles for a payment of $15 million.
