Using your knowledge of history why would it might have been a good idea to treat Germany leniently when the Treaty was drawn up ?

Well at the time it might have been harsh on Germany bu they benifitted from it greatly.

At the end of the war Americans where building glamorus car in the detroit era but when the price of fuel went up people could not afford big fancy American items so the bought cheap easy to run cars and items from Germany and Japan. Because Germany had very little supplies that had to build things as cheaply as they could that had the most efficientcy.
