think that might be?

The first Chinese emperor ordered to burn all books about history, philosophy, and the Confucian texts. As other powerful and ambitious rulers have wanted to achieve throughout history,  he wanted to alter and control the narrative of his actions and the origins of his own empire, the record of history. He did want to avoid historical comparisons with ancient kingdoms and rulers.

The emperor also deeply distrusted intellectuals. He didn´t want their criticism and their comparisons of Qin rule with the past.

But the exception were books on agriculture and medicine. Those were subjects of great practical utility for the satisfaction of the population´s needs and the protection of health. Besides, good harvests and large food storage were indispensable for keeping a large army and for war readiness.
