Why did the Jim Crow laws continue after WWII?

In a way the post war US was a place where there was an extreme sense of not being able to live their life in their own terms during the war so they returned to the rigorous family values of their time as prosperity increased.

There was no focus on social welfare as the majority population was simply too happy to care about the issue of the black people and was in fact growing to be more and more racist.

So the Jim crow laws persisted through the time and it was only in the 60s that they were rid of.
