Capitalism is the system that allows wealthy people to invest their money in projects and earn (or lose!) Even more money. Allow anyone rich enough to do this. Historian Eric Williams argued that Europeans made a great deal of money from their network of colonies and their sugar, cotton and tobacco plantations.
