For each case you choose, use the Internet to learn more about the situation that led to the lawsuit and the Supreme Court’s ruling. Then, read the Declaration of Independence, U. S. Constitution, and Bill of Rights. These can be found online at the National Archives (among other places). Click on the toolbar to find “America’s Founding Documents” and then on “Read a Transcript.”
As you do your research, think about these questions: What rights do the plaintiffs—the people who brought the lawsuit—claim have been violated? How are these rights identified in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and/or the Bill of Rights?
