ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME ITS OVER DUE
Part B: Quote 1
"He felt a sudden pressure, and then splinters and pieces of board and fragments of tile fell on him. He heard no roar. (Almost no one in Hiroshima recalls hearing any noise of the bomb)"
-Hersey—Chapter 1, pg. 10

Question:
This quote is striking because the witness does not remember hearing a noise when the bomb was dropped. There is a comparison to be made between a silent bomb and an invisible enemy like the pandemic we are facing. Why might a silent bomb or invisible enemy be scarier than an enemy you can see or a bomb you can hear?

Part C: Quote 2
"On the other side, at a higher spit, he lifted the slimy living bodies out and carried them up the slope away from the tide. He had to keep consciously repeating to himself, these are human beings."
-Hersey—Chapter 3, pg. 57

Question:
The quote is talking about a man assisting in carrying dead bodies to a mass grave to bury them. What does this quote tell you about the destructive powers of the atom bomb? Why?

Part D: Quote 3
"In an emergency like this, the first task is to help as many people as possible—to save as many lives as possible. There is no hope for the heavily wounded. They will die. We can't bother with them." -Nameless Doctor—

Chapter 3, pg. 63

Question:
This line of thinking, sounds like a contradiction. In order to save the largest number of people, we should ignore saving certain people. What do you think the doctor meant by this?
