In American history, there were two periods in our history called the "Red Scare". This was a time of mass fear and hysteria. The media, our government, and our society pushed the idea that Russian communists were going to take over the world. The first scare was due to the Bolshevik Revolution. It caused many people suspected of being a Russian ally either being deported or being imprisoned. Many years later, when the Cold War was in full swing- many feared the possibility of a Nuclear war.
