The first civilization sin this region, such as the people from Mesopotamia, Egyptians, Hittites, Assyrians, all have formed their own countries. Because of their advancements and constant need for more resources, they started to perform military campaigns through which they wee conquering new territories. Those were actually the first attempts of building an empire, at least from what is known so far from the history.
