As of now, oil is one of the main sources of energy and the middle east has more than half of the world's total oil reserves and it represents about 65% of the total world oil reserves. Saudi Arabia being the far largest producer i.e 42% of the middle east.  U]Iran has 19% of the production, UAE has 11%, Iraq has 6% and Kuwait has 11% and Qatar 4% and Oman 5% of reserves. Thus oil nature of occurrence and nature if demand has led to the gap between the rich and the poor nations.
