Tilden, but an agreement was reached that president Rutherford Hayes would ensure the withdrawal of federal troops from former confederate states of the south. Other parts of the agreement was that David M. Key of be appointed as Postmaster General, and the non interference of the north with how the southern states handle their black populations. Some other agreements like he construction of another transcontinental railroad in the south, and the industrial reconstruction of the south were not acted upon.
