At the end of the war, December 2 1918 was marked as Britain's Day. It was an occasion to celebrate the role Britain and America played together to achieve a successful outcome. In the poster, America (represented by Uncle Sam) and Britain (captured as Britannia, a female) are depicted to be locking hands side by side in a celebration of the co-operative alliance between the two nations.
