Byzantine Empire came into existence after the fall of the Roman Empire. The East and the West remained attached through the similar Christian faith. But the Church in the east over time developed its different ways to worship god as it became known as the Eastern Orthodox Church.

The empire influence by the Greek language and culture. The Byzantine Empire painting reflected on their beliefs in Orthodox Christianity. Though they followed different customs and style, depicted God in Churches such as Hagia Sophia.

They built churches and monument with a painting of religious expression. The presence of Christ in the crowning of the emperors shows the connections between the Church and rulers.
