How has the relationship between the pilgrims and the natives changed over time?

Separatists wanted to build their church to follow their beliefs without any restrictions that they faced in England. For the first time, the Pilgrims (Separatists) reached to New World by Mayflower ship which carried about 102 passengers and formed Plymouth colony.

Pilgrims who arrive to settle in the New World did not know how to farm because of the soil. Settlers were not familiar with the new land, which was different than England. Fortunately, Pilgrims had Native Indians who were willing to help them in cultivating new crops like corn, beans, and squash. Native Indians also helped colonists by teaching them how to tap the maple trees for sap, and fishing in the Bay.

The relationship began to swift and became hostile as settlers began to take more lands which belonged to Native Americans. The First Indian War started from 1675 to 1676 between Settlers and Native Indians. It was their last effort to evade accepting English authority and stop English settlement on their native lands.
