Mao Zedong was the most prominent Chinese leader of the twentieth century. He headed the Communist Party of China.  the beginning of his rule was marked by enhancing China to a modern nation, but then his decisions had caused China to eventually fall and shatter into violent acts and total chaos. One of his biggest faults was the "Great Leap Forward" and the "Cultural Revolution" that triggered China's major catastrophe.
