From widespread disease to breaking "contracts" made with the natives, colonists were far from repsectful. When colonists first arrived they deemed the natives as "lesser" and therefore not worthy of respect. The colonists went on to establish their separate societies but had to learn better agricultural methods from the same people they would later violently disrespect. In the colonization of America, natives were seen as violent, less than human creatures, and therefore many basic human rights were violated.
