How did the republic structure of government change and develop overtime

After defeating the Etruscan king, Romans developed a republican government with the intent of limiting one person's claim to power. During its early development, the senate, made up of 300patricians (upper class), controlled the government. In a time of war, the senate picked a dictator to rule for six months. Soon enough, plebeians (lower class) demanded a say in policies and laws that affected them. Over time, plebeians gained the right to vote for their own officials who could veto unfavorable laws. These governing principles found their way into the foundation of the United States Constitution.
