Prompt: Based upon the initial reading of the provided documents covering the Civil War/Reconstruction, what do you think was the biggest issue our nation faced as it tried to heal after the Civil War? Explain using evidence from the reading.

One of the biggest issues our world faced after the civil war/reconstruction was that illegal slavery was still going on. people would hide their slaves and work them to death or kill them, so they wouldn’t tell on the “masters”. Many slaves planned to escape some did and others didn’t but if they escaped they would head north. If however, they were caught the most common punishment was death. Because of the fact that they escaped once and could plot to do it again.
