1. Choose ONE of the following characters: o A participant in the Crusades: you can be on either side (Catholic or Muslim) writing home to a family member. You can also be a family member of a participant writing to your soldier (be sure to include questions relevant to Crusades and local news that would be true in the Middle Ages.) o An English lord or lady discussing why King John was forced to sign the Magna Carta. o A physician who is treating patients for bubonic plague. 2. Write a fully developed letter, from the perspective of your chosen character, discussing pertinent information and creating a scenario that is both interesting and believable. o Your letter should be three well-developed paragraphs and must include at least nine specific historical facts/references. (Examples of possible facts are dates, events, details that would apply to the situation, etc.) o Use your textbook and/or reliable websites for information. There are several reliable websites you can use in the Middle Ages section of the Recommended Websites for World History (opens in a new window). o Please note that the assignment is not to list facts or do a report. You will be conveying your understanding of this period of history by the facts and details that you put into your letter. . Use a word processing program, such as Google Docs or Microsoft Word, to write up your answer. Please be sure to put space between paragraphs-- don't run everything together.
