Why do the russian people support putin even though most don’t agree with his actions

He is highly regarded by Russians as a savior: After the fall of the Soviet Union , Yeltsin listened to the West for an economic advise , away from the state capitalism of the old Soviet Union , so naturally Neo-Liberal economic policies(a.k.a Thatcherism , Reaganism , …) were introduced , and it was disastrous , wealth inequality massively rise , corruption became surprisingly prevalent , setting the stage for modern corruption in Russia , millions die from malnutrition , oligarch were practically god at that time , and amidst the chaos , Putin arrived , he was young , ambitious , the man brought hope of a reform to the peoples of Russia , he incarcerated oligarchs , nationalized most industries , solved the prominent economic problem , pulling Russia out of an economic depression and turn it into what we know today , It is pretty reasonable for everyone to like him.

He is decisive , and a staunch opponent against the U.S ambition of political domination: He represent a certain sentiment of the world , anti-Americanism (or anti-American foreign policies) , It’s a very general sentiment , I have a lot of friends that follow such politic , and all of them like president Putin , he is their only hope in stopping what is perceived by them as “American political expansionism” in Syria , Ukraine ,…

Explanation:

Personally , I like the guy , his involvement in corruption are actually quite complex and interesting to try and understand.  His policies are what I dislike about him but its his consistent character is what makes him a respectable leader.
