Early human beings spent most of their time acquiring food by hunting animals and gathering plants. They had to constantly move in search for fresh supplies. They later learned how to plant and harvest food. This enabled them to live in one place. Then they learned how to tame and
care for animals. The sheep and goat were the first: the pig and cow came later. The search for food was an important factor in the way early
humans lived.
