The alliance system was far more important than the trigger cause and the other long-term causes in starting World War I'. How far do you agree with this statement? The outbreak of the WW1 in 1914 was due to a combination of causes which were both long term and short term. For example: Alliances, Militarism, Imperialism, nationalism and the trigger cause was assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. I agree with the statement and also that to my extent i believe that the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand is the most important cause of ww1.
