There weren't a lot of different gases used in WWI, however the one that was the most common, dangerous, and accounted for most gas related deaths was mustard gas. Mustard gas was a type of chemical mixture that, when inhaled or come in contact with, caused large blisters to form on exposed skin or in the lungs, which caused significant damage to anyone exposed to it.
