Why did South Carolinians support the establishment of a new state government after the American Revolution?
In case of further British attack, they supported a new state government to
provide greater protection at home.
The national government could not adequately address local economic and
social issues as a state government could.
They opposed the formation of a strong national government and sought to
create a strong state government instead.
To amend ties between Loyalists and Patriots, a new state government was
formed as a symbol of a new start together.
